. POLDERCRUISER DESCRIPTIONProducts and environments often force people to be physical inactive. Physical activity can be stimulated by positive motivation and facilitation.
For travelling a distance of 10-40 km, one often goes by car because of it's speed, range and comfort. This Poldercruiser facilitates active mobility. Drivers have to use their whole body to stear, just like skiing: it is fun and not making you too tired.
Arm-pads which can be translated forward and backward have replaced the driving wheel. The arm-pads are linked to foot-pads which translate in paralel direction. Because of a rotating seat, the whole body is able to make smooth movements. Joysticks on the armpads contain buttons for throttle and braking.
The poldercruiser suits a new way of driving behaviour; avoiding traffic jams by cruising trough the polder, guided by navigation tools.
This is a sample of a product that facilitates active-minded people in an inactive environment. PROJECTProduct Design & Physical Activity YEAR2008
